Stomach hair removal is something that some people can consider an issue of vanity, but there are positively good reasons to it, whether it's occupational or not. Unlike some other types of hair, stomach hair can grow at different lengths and thicknesses and can be of different consistency. It can also change as you get older. If you have realized you want to remove stomach hair, here is what I consider the best options. Some of these can take more work than others, but I feel these will serve you effective.
The first option for stomach hair removal I would suggest is to simply trim down the hair with an electric razor. Using a beard attachment on an electric razor is fine and will work best. Make sure you run through the hair, going against the grain of the growth. Generally, most people will not have hair that is very thick on the stomach, so this should be relatively easy. After you have done this, you can use the other blades of your electric razor to take the rest of the growth off, and this should give you a hairless stomach for a week or two. For a closer shave, you can also alternately wash your stomach after removing the length, apply a small amount of shaving gel or cream and use a new single blade razor, cutting against the grain in small, careful strokes. Continue this until all the hair is removed, and wash your skin once more. Use a clean towel to dry your stomach and apply a moisturizing lotion.
The next method I would suggest is to use waxing or sugaring. Apply the wax to your stomach in generous, but even amounts. Be careful to not get it on your clothes or anything nearby, as it will be difficult to get off. Allow for ample time for the wax to set until it is tacky or at a sticky consistency. This may feel a little weird the first time you do it. Next, use the cloth strips included and cover the wax horizontally across your stomach, and grab the edge of the strip with your fingers. Brace for pain, it will be unpleasant the first time you do this. Pull down in a fast but careful motion. Repeat this process on all areas where you want the hair removed. If this is too complicated, or you have too much stomach hair that you feel you may be distracted by the pain, you can also get your stomach professionally waxed or even sugared at a salon by an experienced professional.
One thing to note about waxing and sugaring is that over time, it may lead to a decrease in hair growing in all areas, but more notably the chest, stomach, or shoulders. The difference in shaving these areas is that sometimes it can lead to the hair growing back more thick or full. This is a decision you have to make based on how much hair you have to treat.
Hair removal on your stomach can sometimes be desirable only on limited parts. If you want to remove just the hairs around the belly button, which is common for some men, you can consider tweezing the hair. This method is less hassle because of its simplicity and is generally as effective as waxing/sugaring. Simply pluck the hairs out one by one. Place the tweezers at the base of the hair and get a good grip. Pull straight and smoothly. Be careful to not pull at an angle or 'yank' too hard, because this can cause the hair to break off at the root, and will cause an ugly ingrown hair situation on your belly.
If you are a person who has a large amount of stomach hair, you may want to visit a salon or facility that offers electrolysis or laser hair removal. This is a permanent method of hair removal, and will require many trips to completely remove it, so I only recommend this for people who have a lot of stomach hair that is necessary to remove. It can be costly as well as painful, so that it under advisement if you decide to go this route. Do not ever use depilatories or chemical treatments to remove stomach hair. These harsh chemicals can directly be absorbed into organs such as the liver and kidneys when used here, and can cause more harm than good. Above all else, ONLY use the methods listed above for stomach hair removal, for your health.
This type of hair is one that truly will be different for everybody, whereas in most people, stomach hair usually consists of an 'O' type pattern around the belly button. Many people will consider it 'cute' and not unbecoming at all. However, be warned that this hair can grow back thicker than other hair in a higher frequency unless you make the decision to use techniques like waxing and sugaring. Use discretion and consider how much you feel it's a necessity to remove this hair, as it can be a trouble area in the long run if you do not consistently remove this hair.
